TWN LANDS 2ND STAGE AT WILLIE NELSON
Lots of good things to report from TWN camp these days. As promised, we've been on a tear booking some fantastic summer dates. First, we're ecstatic to share that we've been asked to play second stage at the Willie Nelson show up at The Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion at the end of May. Such a great opportunity to share a bill with this American icon!
Next, we're finally making up our rained-out date at Patriot Place from the fall. If you're down with seeing your favorite bongo pop band rock an outdoor plaza in Foxboro for free, we'll see you there! We've also landed a couple of shows at the Governor's Inn Cafe in Rochester in June and August. The Cafe is a perfect setting (all ages, outdoor beer garden) for friends and fans to bring their kids and listen to some live music on cool summer evenings. The gig is right up our alley (7-10pm)!
Interested in booking The Whatnot for your summer BBQ, private party, corporate event, school, bar/club, or stadium gig? We'd love to hear from you! Check out our new on-line schedule for availability here and drop us a line!
Finally, a big thank you to everyone for coming out to the recent gigs. If you saw us at the Muddy River Smokehouse, you noticed our new friend Joel working his magic on the piano. I joked after that "it didn't sound terrible", but honestly he's been a great addition to our live show and we're looking forward to having him up there with us as much as possible in the future. Have a great summer and we'll see you out there!
SIGNS OF SPRING AND NEW SHOWS
Hey everyone! As the dirty snow finally starts to disappear and local establishments already begin carrying Sam Summer (?!?!), it is time for us all to wake from our winter hibernation to get out and play. We are happy to share that we've booked some cool shows in April/May, with a bunch of summer dates in the works. Keep an eye on the shows page for updates and details.
In other news, our friends at Thumbprint Productions are taping a pilot TV show called "Catch the Vibe" and have asked us to be one of the first bands featured. They'll be taping our performance downstairs at the Muddy River Smokehouse on Friday, April 24th in Portsmouth, NH. The best part? YOU can come cheer us on and have a chance to get on TV! So come on out!
Finally, we continue to rehearse and write with plans to record a new album in 2009. Our friend Joel Morse has recently joined us on keys and we plan on having him up there playing with us at future shows. So next time you get out for a TWN gig, introduce yourself and help make him feel welcome. Don't forget to stop by Ourstage.com for some fantastic independent music (us included!) or to become a fan on Facebook! We'll see you out there soon!
TWN CELEBRATES THANKSGIVING W/ EXTRA GRAVY
Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback on our first radio appearance recently during WHEB's "Lend A Helping Can" food drive. Here is a pic of us with the Morning Buzz crew...

Word is they raised more than $74,000 over two days... amazing! It just demonstrates how willing people are to help out even when times get tough. Anyway, we're back on the air Monday, December 1st at 4pm but this time we play on local community radio WSCA 106.1 FM.
Thanks to you, our fans, we have been voted into the top 20 on the WBOS 92.9 FM channel for the month of November at Ourstage.com! Visit the site via the banner below, keep voting, and check out some of the other great artists there.
Finally, we are VERY excited to announce an ALL AGES show at Portsmouth High School on Thursday, December 4th at 9 pm. So for all of those of you we miss dearly during these bar gigs, come hang out with us at PHS! Happy Thanksgiving!
THE BAND TO PLAY LEND A HELPING CAN ON 11/20
WHEB 100.3 FM is one of the biggest radio stations we have here on the Seacoast of NH. We're very happy to share that the guys will be playing a couple of songs live on the air on today during the 4 o'clock hour as part of the Lend A Helping Can event! If you can, tune in or stream it live from the web to listen for the band play.
FOXBORO SHOW POSTPONED
Due to the lovely weather we are having, the outdoor gig at Patriot Place scheduled for today has been postponed to a later date. We hope to make it there soon!
CO-BILL WITH SECONDS TO SEPTEMBER!
Hey everyone! We have some cool gigs lined up with good friends and fellow local band Seconds to September in the coming months. Come check out the first co-bill at The Page on Friday, December 12th downstairs. Hope to see you there!

WHO DOESN'T LOVE THE FALL IN NEW ENGLAND?
Seriously, does it get any better than the leaves changing, football, fall drinks like apple cider or Sam's Octoberfest? We say absolutely not. While we've hit some production snags regarding the new record, we have still kept quite busy getting some promotion out there. Should be a great rest of 2008 for us. Check us out on one of our new favorite music sites (so many great bands there) Ourstage.com. Last month, our song Thunderclouds was voted #3 in the acoustic channel. This month, we are entered in the WBOS Radio 92.9 channel. So do your favorite bongo-rock band a favor and vote for us!
Finally, we've been offered a great opportunity to perform at Patriot Place down in Foxboro, MA on Saturday, November 8th with our good friends Oneside. Patriot Place is a huge brand new complex with tons of restaurants, shopping, and a free all ages show by your favorite bongo-rawk band The Whatnot! Come out to the show and then go get a head start on your holiday shopping.
6 NEW SONGS AND SUMMER DATES
Hello everyone! Yeah, it's been a while, we know, but we've been busy writing new tunes. We're happy to report that we've got six new tunes written; song titles floating around are "Back Roads", "The Finest Love", "Indiana Plains", "Getaway", "Rest Your Head", and "Bettering". And there are some more in the works. We've been writing as a band which has been an awesome experience. Plus you benefit because you get a front row seat to the thoughts and ideas inside all of our heads on this record. Check the dates page for info on our next gig back at the Dover Brickhouse later this month. Come have a beverage and celebrate the summer with us, eh?
SPRING IS UPON US ONCE AGAIN
OK, so maybe it's a bit too early to count out any future snow... but we've got the warm weather bug, do you? We're happy to announce that new songs are in the works and a new album is officially planned! We've purchased a bunch of new equipment and will be trying out some home recording this time around, so we're definitely excited about it. We'll be sure to share some demos at our myspace page. Additionally, we're working on some spring and summer gigs so keep an eye on the site for new dates. Also, don't hesitate to email us if you're having a BBQ or a party and want TWN to play or know of a cool venue that we should play at. We're always interested in your ideas! See ya out there!

THE BAND PREPARES FOR FALL SEASON
Well it has been a great summer but it is time to get back out there to play some music! We have some great shows coming up in September, including a performance at our alma mater, UNH and one of our favorite local stomping grounds, the Dover Brickhouse. See ya out there! Hope you enjoy this shot from our Veterans Park date back in July...
THE WHATNOT AVOIDS THE NOID
We've been informed that our song Thunderclouds is featured on a "Summer Road Trip" mix at Dominos.com! Check out the look of the player below.
This past weekend we rocked the basement of the Sweetwater Cafe. Thanks to everyone for coming out and getting hot and sticky in the packed basement of the alley club! Hope to see all you Boston folks again soon. Next show is mid-June at one of our favorite hometown rooms, the Dover Brickhouse. See ya there!
TWN OPENS FOR BEN KWELLER
This past week, we had an awesome opportunity to open for Ben Kweller up at Colby College. It was a great show and we were very excited not only to share the stage with Mr. Kweller (who is a super nice guy), but also to find ourselves back up at Colby for the second time this year. Thanks to everyone at Colby and thanks to our good buddy Adam Flaherty for coming to Patrick's rescue as a guitar tech and for taking this picture!
The following night we played out in the quad at Westminster School in Simsbury, CT. What a great time, as it was the first outdoor show of 2007 for us. Thanks to Gloria and all the awesome students at Westminster for your hospitality! This weekend brings two more shows: one at Portsmouth High School and another one on Saturday night in Boston. Hope to see you there!
SPRING DATES
Just as we began to think that winter was finally gone, we get snow on St. Patricks Day! The guys have been taking it easy since some great shows at the Paradise in Boston and the Blue Mermaid in Portsmouth. Thanks to all who came out to hang with us. We have some new dates posted and are happy to announce that we'll be back in Boston in May. At the end of this month we'll be rocking one of our favorite seacoast spots, the Dover Brickhouse. Also, for those of you who have been hoping for an all ages show, we're going to be helping out the National Honors Society at Portsmouth High for a benefit in mid-April. Head over to the shows page for more info. Also, we're happy to announce that we have a new baby doll shirt design in the works, which should be available at shows and via the webstore soon! See ya out there!
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
The guys have been laying low during the fall, playing shows here and there around New England. Check them out next at the Brickhouse on Orchard Street in Dover, NH on Friday, November 10th.
THE WHATNOT TO VISIT THE DOVER SOUL
In keeping up with the recent theme of having a very musically rich local community, the guys have been asked to perform at Dover Soul on Wednesday night, September 27th at 8 pm. The series is presented to us through a very cool effort sponsored by a group called NH Edge, who are primarily made up of members from varying local bands from around the seacoast area of NH. NH Edge works to interview bands and record live performances at Dover Soul, and then posts their weekly program for free download via Podcast on iTunes. Stop by their website and tell Tim, Scott, and the rest of the kind folks at NH Edge that The Whatnot sent ya... oh and check out a quick review of the new album on one of their recent broadcasts: nhedge.com.
THE WHATNOT TO PLAY MIGHTY K FESTIVAL
The guys are very excited to have been asked to play in the first annual Mighty K Festival taking place on Sunday, September 24 in Dover, NH. They will be joining a full roster of impressive artists who have made their mark on the Seacoast NH scene. Reserve this day on your calendars now and visit the fest's new website online at mightyk.net.
THE WHATNOT TAKES CHARGE OF THE SPOTLIGHT
Look for the band all over this week's Spotlight Magazine in the Portsmouth Herald. Not only are the guys' smiling faces on the cover, but there is a full feature article and a cd review inside. Also check out the story online.
'ONE MORE FOR POCKET' CD NOW AVAILABLE
The album is out and we will be touring New England in support of it. Check out our MySpace and let us know where we should go!
